Friends of the Brazos,
Well… today is the day.
After nearly ten years of laughter, late nights, standing ovations, improv games gone wildly off the rails, murder mysteries, cabarets, and so many unforgettable memories - today is our final day in this space. But by the end of today, it will all be packed, cleaned, and emptied out.
If you’ve ever laughed here, if you’ve ever performed here, if you’ve ever brought a friend here for their first show, if this little theatre on the corner of Hwy 6 & Bosque has meant something to you, we’d love for you to stop by today and say goodbye.
We’ll be here packing, hauling, sorting, and yeah, probably getting a little emotional. We’re also hosting a moving sale of items we can’t take with us. Furniture, décor, theatre odds and ends... pieces of Brazos history looking for new homes.
As of this morning, we still don’t have a permanent new space. Commercial rents in Waco have climbed to levels that make it incredibly difficult for small, independent businesses like ours to survive, let alone start fresh. But please hear this clearly:
We are not done. We are not giving up. And the Brazos Theatre is not disappearing.
We are already in conversations across the city. Generous friends are hosting our shows in the coming weeks. The community has stepped up in beautiful ways. The road ahead may look different than we imagined, but theatre people know how to adapt.
For now, we’re a nomadic troupe. And honestly? That feels kind of poetic. That's exactly how we began our journey back in 2013!
Thank you for loving this space, for loving live theatre, and for believing that laughter and storytelling matter.
Come see us today. Hug the walls. Take a photo. Share a memory.
And then… follow us to wherever the next stage appears.
Beth

Hey, it's Beth again, and I wanted to update you on what's happening with us here at the Brazos Theatre!
Honestly, it's almost impossible to believe that our time here at the corner of Hwy 6 & Bosque Blvd is about to come to an end. We're so grateful to all of you who have supported us, enjoyed our shows, and given so many words of support and encouragement.
We haven't found a new home yet, but we know the perfect place is out there for us!
BUT - the show DOES go on! It's just going to look a little different for a while. We'll be "on the road", and we hope you join us for our adventure!
Here's what's on the agenda so far:
* Stand Up Comedy Showcase
at The Brazos Theatre
(our final show in this space!)
* Improv Comedy Show - March 7
hosted by: Waco Civic Theatre
(1517 Lake Air Dr., Waco)
* Stand Up Comedy Showcase - March 21
hosted by: Texas Music Cafe
(3004 Franklin, Waco)
* Improv Comedy Show - April 4
hosted by UU Fellowship
(4209 N. 27th St., Waco)
And there's more in the works! Do you have a space that would be great for hosting one of our shows! Let us know by emailing [email protected].
Onward and upward!
Beth

Hello patrons and friends of the Brazos,
It’s Beth here, owner and director of the Brazos Theatre. I wanted to reach out personally with some big news, and a heartfelt request.
Well… the rumors are true. After nearly ten wonderful years in our current space, the shopping center we call home is being converted into a school, and we’ve been given notice to move out by February 28th. It’s a tight timeline, and while it isn’t the news any of us hoped for, I’m choosing to look at this moment as both a challenge and an opportunity.
When we first moved into our space a decade ago, we did it with the help of generous people who believed in what live theatre can bring to a community. We’ve never operated like a traditional business. We’re not a nonprofit, but we might as well be! No one takes a salary. Everything we earn goes straight back into creating comedy, improv, plays, murder mysteries, and unforgettable nights for Waco audiences.
And now, we’re hoping that same community magic can help us write the next chapter.
Here’s what we’re searching for:
- An open space around 4,000–4,500 sq. ft.
- Fairly centrally located
- High ceilings (12 ft. or more)
- Great lighting and safe parking
- No pillars if possible
- A space we can transform into a theatre home
- And (this is the big one) a landlord willing to offer extremely affordable rent, similar to what we’ve been blessed with these past ten years
If you are someone, or know someone, who might have a lead on a building, warehouse, storefront, or empty space that fits this description, your connection could make all the difference. Oh! And if you know of any spaces where we could "pop in" for shows until we find something permanent, let us know! A large meeting room that seats at least 70? An empty building that has electricity and running water? A restaurant that isn't open on Saturday nights? Let's explore!
The Brazos Theatre is our passion, and our mission has always been to bring people together through laughter, storytelling, and community. We fully intend to keep doing that. We just need a new place to call home.
I know Waco has a big heart. I’ve seen it countless times. And I believe that somewhere out there is our next stage - our new beginning. If you can help us find it, or if you have a lead or idea, please reach out directly to me.
Thank you for supporting us, cheering for us, and being part of this community. Let’s find our new home together!
With hope,
Beth
